Before the conversion of the Bristol Road tram routes the 23 single-decker bus service operated between West Heath and Northfield The Northfield terminus was in Borrowdale Road which gave the Allen's Cross Estate feeder bus route. 2249 (JOJ 249), one of the 1950-vintage Leyland 'Tiger' PS2 is with Weymann B34F bodywork, stands at the triangular island in Frankley Beeches Road facing the Black Horse public house on 10 June 1952. Behind the bus is Northfield Methodist church. (G.F. Douglas)
