The Boots shop on the left is now the home of HSBC bank/West Bromwich Building Society. All the buildings to the right of Boots have been demolished and is now Home Bargains store. Martin Wells remembers: My Dad used to fill up at Wheelers Garage (used to get 'filled up' - personal service in those days) he always asked for a couple of "shots" of Redex. I think it was, petrol was 4/6d a gallon. Our phone number was PRIory 4898 (named after the priory near the woodlands I think). We were the only house in the close to have our own line and not a party line (very posh!)
