Lower Church Hill

Church Hill, looking up towards railway bridge. (c.1950's). Halfway under the bridge was once a stairway that led up to the now closed centre platform, it would have surfaced inside that shelter shown above the bridge. In 2015 the banks of the railway are now overgrown, and where the trimmed tree stood is now a Yale Garage. Ken Davis remembers a Pet Shop & a Butchers opposite the tree in 1958. & also tells us; "Motorparts (on right) when it first opened, I also remember there was an alley which at the side of the building which led all the way along the railway bank right up to the railway bridge at Wychall Road. We used to go and sit on the railway bridge and train spot, and was in the smoke of the trains as they went under the bridge, MEMORIES" Ian Maycey remarks; "I remember the graffiti above the bridge it said; "I love you Queen please be mine", it was about the group not our monarch, I wonder If anyone knows who did it?"
