Old Mill Public House, The Willows pub

Old Mill Public House, 30 West Heath Road, in 2009. Took it's name from; Digbeth/Cotterills aka Northfield Mill that was very near. Pub was demolished a year later and the Co-op built a large new supermarket on the site. For many years it had a good reputation for being able to watch small live bands.

The Willows pub, Wychall Road, built c.1950s demolished c.1980s

I remember in 1960's my work pal Johnny Street lived at the Council house opposite next to River Rea (now demolished new houses on spot) He emigrated to South Africa around 1970. But in late 60's we did a Disco in the pub. The late Pete Allen DJ'ing at the time was attacked on the door for charging an entrance fee to a guy after 10.30pm. So we didn't go there again, was a little tough area then, all redeveloped now, really all that remains from that area now is the closed down shops.
