Old Cottages by The Travellers Rest Pub

The gap between the Travelers Rest pub and these cottages was one of the first automatic car washes for a time... late seventies. Then it became a bit of an 'Arthur Daley' type car sales pitch .. remember buying a cheap Datsun in 1983 from there that failed to start most mornings... a guy by the name of Martin Ball ran the place, he used to be a customer at Phase 2 hair dressers .. It later became the car park for the Travellers Rest. In between the car park and Bernard Farrer estate agents (now Gino chip shop) where two old derelict cottages, don’t remember any permanent residents living in them but they became an eye soar as they were neglected, which attracted vagrants and anti-social behavior! Eventually they got demolished. (Andy Clarke, director at Phase 2 hair salon)
