Bell Inns

There has been four Bell Inns over the years, this one here is No.3 (built b/w 1897-03) It was demolished in early 1980's.
Bell No.1 was actually called The Bluebell Inn and was at the corner of Bell Holloway & Bell Lane.

They straightened the Bristol Road in 1790 and by-passed Pub No.1, so pub No.2 was built b/w 1803-4.

The final Bell (No.4,) is the one that survives today as a second hand shop & originally had a large bell in its tower for effect only.

No 3 demolished in 1983. This photo (video freeze) taken from the roof of the shopping center the day before pub was pulled down. It's now a Mc Donald's, the tiny pub that replaced it is now a second hand shop. It lost it's license some years back due to drug dealing going on.

Another day in 1983 when it was slowly taken down, tiles first.
