Art Deco footbridge at Hawksley Mill Ford (2015). It replaced an earlier one made of wood. Built 1930's?
Many an hour's fun obtained by childen playing in the shallow waters here. On the otherside of the river is a tiny tunnel for traffic to move below the railway, (no access for lorries - even if sat nav says so!) Just a few hundred yards down the River Rea was once Northfield Mill, at one time called Digbeth Mill (see other blogs)
Circa. 1920. The boss said; "Paint the bridge and take a photograph afterwards" Kalamazoo print works behind. (modern factory on new site over Mill Lane.)
Found at the junction of Hawksley Mill Lane & Mill Lane, Northfield
